THE SOFA by Philip Curtis and Theo Abazis, based on an idea by Crebillon, developed as an international co-production with Music Theatre Group Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Centre for Music Theatre Volos (Greece). The project attracted financial support from the European Commission through the Kaleidoscope Programme. A jealous
man turns into a sofa - a common event as we all
know..... |
| The
piece was created and performed in Amsterdam in
August/September 1998, directed by Philip Curtis and Han
Duijvendak. Musical Direction by Theo Abazis. Designed by
Marise Rose and Ali Allen. Lighting designed by Dirk
Blom. Workshops based on THE SOFA have taken place in
Greece, England and the Netherlands. It was planned to revive the show in April 1999 at Unity Theatre, Liverpool prior to a short tour of Greece and the UK, but despite the unwavering support from North West Arts Board and Merseyside ACME we failed to persuade the Arts Council of England and other potential UK funders to commit sufficient funding as match for the Kaleidoscope grant. Sadly this means that the Greece/UK phase of the project has been cancelled. We regret that we are unable to perform this show to our home audiences. A 15 minute promo video of the show is available on request, price £10. |
