Handstand Theatre Company - Theatre Productions

HANDSTAND has been working since 1993 to create and promote exciting new ways of using live music as an integral part of popular, high quality theatrical events. Tired of, and slightly bemused by, traditional perceptions of the combination of music and drama - "Is it a musical? Is it Music Theatre?", we worked hard to blur the boundaries and synthesise the use of these two forms of theatrical expression.

Through performances, workshops and the development of new work HANDSTAND enhanced the artistic scope of actor-musician productions and increase the opportunities for performing artists to harmonise their musical and dramatic skills.

Increasingly, our work has taken on a European dimension, as in our 1998 project, THE SOFA.

Since the turn of the century, we have become increasingly involved in TV, video and film production, which now forms the mainstay of our work.
